1) Quelle date as tu commencé à t’entrainer à CrossFit Xclusive?

2) Décrit ton premier WOD? Comment ça c’est passé?
I was excited and scared at the same time. I wasn’t certain I could complete the WOD yet the fear was motivating.
 
3) Qu’est-ce qui t’a faite decider de commencer CrossFit?
I had lost 140 lbs on my own over a few years and needed something more intense to keep improving. I had been taking a course with West who would show us Crossfit videos during break. I decided it looked like something I wanted to try.
 
4) Est-ce que tu as vue des changements dans ta vie quotienne après avoir eu commencé CrossFit?
After the initial adjustment to the training, I noticed that day to day tasks became easier: lifting especially. I had more energy and flexibility.
 
5) Que dirais tu as quelqu’un qui a peur de commencer CrossFit?
If I can do it, anyone can. In 2012 I had made a resolution to do things that scared me every day. Joining Crossfit was
one of them. Fear that i would not be able to follow. But I did! The WOD’s are scaled to your level yet you are participating in a group where you might have an elite athlete and a beginner working out together. The other great benefit is the social aspect. It’s a supportive environment where we encourage and help each other. That makes you feel attached to the activity and less likely to quit. It’s not a gym, it’s a big sweaty family.
 
6) C’est quoi ton WOD favorit?
One Friday Lyne, Phil and I were doing a team workout using adeck of cards. The trump determined the exercise and the face value of the card, the number of repetitions. That was definitely my favorite one!
 
7) Quels buts es tu contente d’avoir eu accompli jusqu’à date?
Quels sont tes buts maintenant? I ran a 5k last june. Never thought I would be able to accomplish that. My new goals for 2012 is to run a 10 k, lose the rest of the weight I need gone and do a pull up.
 
8) Quel aspect de CrossFit aime tu le plus et pourquoi?
My favorite aspect of Crossfit is therequirement to keep track of your results. It’s amazing to see how far you have come over time.
 
9) Comment décrirais tu l’atmosphère à CrossFit Xclusive?
When someone is missing from class, I look to see if they were in another time slot. The familiar faces give you a sense of belonging to a group that for me, I didn’t think I would be part of. SO the camaraderie aspect of classes where we get to know and encourage each other is how I would describe the setting.
 
10) Comment a été ton expérience avec ton premier ’30 Day Eat Real Food Challenge’?
The First time I did the paleo challenge I ended up adding new habits and dropping a few bad ones. I noticed pretty quickly that trading carbohydrates for protein decreased my soreness and helped me increase my strength. My hunger also came down and i was able to better manage my diabetes.
 
11) Comment était ton alimentation avant le challenge?
Before Paleo, i would eat perhaps 8 oz of protein in an entire week. The balance was carbohydrate based without many vegetables. After the challenge, apples tasted sweet enough that eating one would kill a sugar craving.
 
12) Qu’est –ce que tu as trouvé le plus difficile pendant le challenge?
The hardest part of the challenge was getting variety. I would gravitate to chicken salads daily because I knew the food was safe. This challenge I will focus on experimenting.
 
13) Qu’est-ce que tu as aimé le plus du challenge?
Best thing about the challenge was the new habits I added in my life such as drinking water exclusively.
 
14) As-tu remarqué des changements pendant et après le challenge?
Definitely during the challenge I had more energy and my strength was improved. My muscles would keep going longer than before.
 
15) Quels habitudes alimentaire as tu continué maintenant que le challenge est finit?
I try and keep most of the meal plan of Paleo, but old habits creep in. I make soups with only vegetables and protein that is my go to meal. I also snack on seeds and fruit.
 
Crossfit for me mimics life. Fear is a mental construct most of the time. In the beginning, I would be driving and be scared of the workout: will I be able to get through it. Box jumps, running I was scared to fail at these because I wanted to be as good as everyone else instead of focusing on my own improvements. Addressing these fears in the gym has permitted me to address some fears outside of the gym. For anyone who has weight to lose whether 200 or 20, you quickly realize that it’s a mental challenge above all. Crossfit gives you proof that you are capable, that you do improve and hence increases your self esteem. There’s nothing more satisfying then finally reaching that 1rm you were hoping for. It’s better than any cookie!

    115lbs,115lbs,115lbs,135lbs,135lbs.

    Before Martine spent a bit of time coaching me one day, the heaviest I ever went was 115-125lbs, now I have found a higher 1RM and can easily go heavier with my regular reps.

      Quelle transformation…c’est incroyable. C’est vrai qui etait l’fun le WOD avec toi et Phil. Comme Jocelyne la dit, c’etait l’fun trainer a la plage. On avait aussi fait un WOD moi et toi sur le bord de la rue un vendredi, j’pense qu’il y avait du tonerre. Y etait l’fun lui aussi. C’est plaisant de trainer avec toi. Merci de partager ton histoire, pis en passant j’sus convaincue que tu vas reussir ton 10km en juin.
